Happy November

Each month of the calendar year is dedicated to a Catholic Devotion. In  November it is the Holy Souls in Purgatory. This is because the Feast of All Souls falls on November 2nd every year. This month begins with the feast of All Saints. As Halloween has passed the secular world turns their eyes towards Christmas.  November 1st also marks the beginning of Black Catholic History Month as well as Native American Heritage Month and Alaskan Heritage Month

 Dates of Importance

November 1st: All Saints’ Day and First Saturday

November 2nd: All Souls’ Day

November 7th: First Friday

November 21st: Wicked: For Good Premiere

The story of Wicked a revisionist historical retelling of the witches of OZ is a story that at face value is about justice and helping those most in need no matter at what cost, in Wicked’s case, the animals imprisoned by the Wizard. Elphaba is ostracized because she seeks to do what is right and is the victim of propaganda. Therefore Wicked is a retelling of historical events even today’s as animals are concerned as victims of cruelty and they allegory the characters refer to such as immigrants and those demonized by the current administration. In addition Elphaba can be seen as a type of Christ who is innocent but deemed wicked by those who wish to keep the truth about the Wizard under wraps, parallel to those who condemned Christ to death

November 27th: Thanksgiving Day and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal

November 28th: Our Lady of Kibeho and St. Catherine Laboure

November 30th: First Sunday of Advent and St. Andrew’s Day
