 How Can Your Family Celebrate Mary this Month? - St. Eulalia - Winchester, MA
Each Marian feast day honor's Mary's role in salvation history one way or another. The feasts of Our Lady on this post honor Her intercession by means of sacramentals (blessings or blessed items) that She has given the Church. The liturgical color for these feasts are white or gold for Our Lady's purity and glory, Her powerful intercession. Popular devotion to Mary is to wear blue in Her honor. The posts are listed in chronological order according to wear they fall in the year as follows:

Today is also International Cat Day! May St. Dominic pray for and protect all the kitties of the world especially the homeless, hungry, in danger and most in need!

The Feast of the Holy Rosary (October 7th)

Today is commemorated as Our Lady of the Rosary (formerly Our Lady of Victory) in memorial of Our Lady's intercession at the Battle of Lepanto. A plenary indulgence can be gained under the usual conditions by visiting a church named for Our Lady of the Rosary or Our Lady of Victory and praying the Apostle’s Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. In 2023 this feast falls on First Saturday and therefore our Rosaries will be all the more efficacious.

Films based on Marian apparitions such as Lourdes and Fatima honor Our Lady of the Rosary as during these apparitions, Our Lady asked us to pray the Rosary. Movies about the life of Christ are a good way to meditate on the mysteries of the rosary.

Happy June

   Each month of the calendar year is dedicated to a Catholic Devotion. In  June it is  the  Sacred Heart of Jesus  because this month is when the annual feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated. June also marks  LGBTQ+ Pride Month . Pride month this year is a very important time because of the attack on the Trans community and the bigotry by conservatives towards the gay community. This is classic vice under the mask of virtue that saints warn about. Happy April

  Each month of the calendar year is dedicated to a Catholic Devotion. In April   it is  the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit .   This is because Easter is typically in April and when it is in March the season still continues through April and the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Spirit have a special role in the Easter mysteries. More information on Catholic belief about the Eucharist can be found Here and Here.  April 1st is also April Fools’ Day (see below). April 1st is also the beginning of Arab American Heritage Month  and Earth Month . Finally, for those lovers of Halloween like myself, look for “Halfway to Halloween” events happening near you or on streaming services like Shudder. The themes of Halloween overlap with those of the Lenten season as well and thus spooky movies during Lent are most appropriate as  Lent continues into the month of April this year.
