The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us, now and at the hour of death!

The Saturday following the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Immaculate Heart of Mary is the treasury by which all other Marian devotions are born. Honoring the Heart of the Mother of God today besides Mass, the Rosary and wearing the scapular is to consecrate ourselves to her by means like the method of St. Louis de Montfort

We honor the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart each month on First Friday and First Saturday respectively also in accordance with revelations of Our Lord and Our Lady. With today’s feast, following the feast of the Sacred Heart to reflect Jesus and Mary’s unity, there won’t be any other major Sunday solemnities like Corpus Christi until Christ the King Sunday. All the feast days that are moveable based on the date of Easter thus are complete. In this was just as our redemption began by Mary’s “Fiat”, Her Immaculate Heart closes the Easter related celebrations.

Indulgences: A plenary indulgence is given for visiting a church on the feast of its titular Saint. Any church titled for the Immaculate Heart of Mary holds a plenary indulgence under the normal conditions (see indulgences section) and for praying the creed and Our Father once. For those consecrated to Mary on this feast in previous years and renew their indulgence a plenary indulgence can be gained today. To make this renewal more efficacious see here. For members of the Rosary Confraternity and Living Rosary a plenary indulgence is gained under the usual conditions.

Spare us, O Lord.

Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.

V. Immaculate Mary, meek and humble of heart,
R. Make our hearts like unto the Heart of Jesus.

Let Us Pray:
O most merciful God, Who, for the salvation of sinners and the refuge of the miserable, wast pleased that the Most Pure Heart of Mary should be most like in charity and pity to the Divine Heart of Thy Son, Jesus Christ, grant that we, who commemorate this sweet and loving Heart, by the merits and intercession of the same Blessed Virgin, may merit to be found like unto the Heart of Jesus, through the same Christ Our Lord.
R. Amen.

Personal note: In 2024, the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary falls on June 8th which is the 27th anniversary of my Baptism. I would like to thank God for all the graces He’s granted me through the Blessed Mother’s intercession. I renew today my Marian consecration and thus I renew my Baptismal vows to give my all to Jesus through Mary.
