“O Lord,God of our Fathers, who bestowed on Saints Joachim and Anne this grace, that of them should be born the Mother of your incarnate Son, grant, through the prayers of both,
that we may attain the salvation you have promised to your people. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.”

The Feast of the Grandparents of God 

Today we honor the parents of our Blessed Mother and the grandparents of Our Lord Jesus Christ. By the fact that they are Mary's parents, Anne and Joachim would've been deeply involved in the understanding of the mystery of the Incarnation, Our Lady's virginity and Her marriage to St. Joseph.  As Mary’s Nativity and thus her parents are important themes in the initial Advent of Christ, today’s feast is a continuation of Christmas in July.

World Sunday for Grandparents and the Elderly. 

The grandparents of Jesus and the parents of Mary are celebrated each July 26th. For this reason Pope Francis marks the Sunday preceding their feast as World Sunday for Grandparents and the Elderly.

Happy June

   Each month of the calendar year is dedicated to a Catholic Devotion. In  June it is  the  Sacred Heart of Jesus  because this month is when the annual feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated. June also marks  LGBTQ+ Pride Month . Pride month this year is a very important time because of the attack on the Trans community and the bigotry by conservatives towards the gay community. This is classic vice under the mask of virtue that saints warn about.   Each month of the calendar year is dedicated to a Catholic Devotion. In April   it is  the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit .   This is because Easter is typically in April and when it is in March the season still continues through April and the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Spirit have a special role in the Easter mysteries. April 1st is also the beginning of Arab American Heritage Month  and Earth Month . Finally, for those lovers of Halloween like myself, look for “Halfway to Halloween” events happening near you or on streaming services like Shudder.
