Trinity Sunday

After the Descent of the Holy Spirit last Sunday on Pentecost, the Holy Trinity has been revealed in a complete way (the Holy Spirit appeared at Christ's Baptism, but wasn't received until Pentecost) and a new era begins in Salvation History. Today we give thanks to the Holy Trinity for the work of creation, salvation and sanctification as we reflect once more on the mysteries of Easter and Pentecost as proofs of the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The dogma of the Holy Trinity is the dogma that our faith is hinged on, it encompasses every other dogma and today we pray ever more fervently: Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and every shall be, world without end. Amen! We should also pay special attention to making the sign of the cross more devoutly.

Today’s liturgical color is white or gold for the glory of the Holy Trinity, the faithful can wear such colors or any variation of. Green is also a color used to honor the Trinity as the color of life and shamrocks are symbols of the Godhead so green and shamrocks would be fitting as well.

A daily Catholic devotion is the recitation of three Hail Marys to highlight Mary’s relationship to the Father as His Daughter, the Son as His Mother and the Holy Spirit as His Spouse. Today let us be ever more attentive to this practice
